Historical background:
The G36 rifle was developed by the German concern
Heckler & Koch in the early 90s of the last century,
to replace the outdated G3 rifles that have been in service
with the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) since the 60s.
In 1995, a prototype called NK50 was submitted for testing
by the German military and in the same year was adopted
under the familiar G36 index.
This system was supposed to become the main personal
small arms in the armed forces and some police and
special forces.
Currently, the G36 family has more than 10 different models
and is actively promoted for export. In addition to Germany,
it is in service with the armies of Spain, Lithuania, Romania,
and is used by police and special units in more than
40 countries.
The G36C version is used by the police forces in
Germany and England.
